THURSDAY, MAY 12, 20110

Students worked on the Ch 17 Summary in class today. They used manila paper to draw and color the Visual Summary on p. 573 on the top 1/2 of the paper. On the bottom 1/2 they copied statements 1-7  on p. 573 and filled in the blanks.

On the back of the paper they wrote COMPLETE answers for Questions 1-6.

They also received a handout on Ch 17 Section 3.

Both assignments must be turned in tomorrow.

MONDAY, MAY 16 – Ch 17 Vocabulary TEST. I will also begin collecting textbooks.

Students were given a Map” Reconstruction Military Districts” to complete. Instructions must be followed VERY carefully.

Write COMPLETE answers for the questions on pp. TN 37 – TN 40.

Use the Study Guide given in class to prepare for tomorrow’s Quiz on Ch 17 – Sections 1 and 2:

1st, 3rd, 4th 5th periods worked on the Ch 17 Vocab in their SSCB’s. 6th period class did not meet due to yearbook signing with 8th grade.

Ch 17 Vocab is due on Wednesday, May 11 and the TEST will be on Monday, May 16.

Students took the Quiz on Ch 16 – Sections 4 and 5.

After the Quiz they worked on the Ch 17 Vocabulary in their SSCB’s. They will be TESTED on the vocabulary on Monday, May 16. All classes may work on the vocab the whole class period tomorrow except 6th period. We will be at the yearbook signing activity during that period.

We the watched “America the Story of Us” “Civil War” episode

Quiz tomorrow on Ch 16 – Sections 4/5 – Students will be allowed to use their SSCB’s and Key Terms/People for these Sections.

Bonus Question – List the states where slavery was still legal after the Emancipation Proclamation. There are 6 of them.

THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 20110

Due to the FLOODING, TORNADO DRILLS, and GENERAL CONFUSION, only 3 classes met for instruction yesterday. Therefore, I have changed the date for the Ch 16 Sections 4/5 Quiz so I will have more time to review with the students.

Today in class we began working on the “Civil War Video Activity Packet.” We looked over all of the activities and answered a few of the questions that we knew. We then watched Part I of the video and answered additional questions.

For HOMEWORK students were assigned the Visual Summary and Questions 1-5 on p. 545. I gave them white construction paper for the drawing and the questions. I will collect this tomorrow for a homework grade.

FRIDAY, APRIL 29 – turn in homework assignment and continue working on the Civil War Packet.

MONDAY, MAY 2 – turn in Civil War Packet for a TEST grade; review for the Ch 16- Sections 4/5 Quiz
