Second and third period classes watched a biography of Benedict Arnold. Students had to write 10 facts that they did not know about him. This was turned in for a classwork grade.

Students were then assigned the map “The Northwest Territories” and questions about the map.  The map is due tomorrow.

Fourth and fifth periods did not have class today. They were taking the ACT Explore Test. (They will receive the map tomorrow.)

All classes will have a work day for pp. 2 and 3 of their booklets on Friday, October 23.

Students completed the Ch 4 TEST.

They were assigned the following:

Read Ch 5 – Section 1 – pp. 152 -155

Copy and answer:

p. 153 – Reading Check and Women’s Suffrage

p. 154 – Interpreting Maps (2 questions) and Reading Check

p. 155 – Reading Check

Fifth period was not assigned this activity. They were taking the Interest Inventory for the ACT Explore Test.

The next Booklet workday will Be Friday, October 23. We will work on pp. 2 and 3.

Students’ “stained” booklets were checked for a homework grade. If a student was absent, he/she must see me the day they return to school to receive  homework credit.

We worked together on the cover, the table of contents, and page 1. These booklets must be left in my classroom, unless other instructions are given. Remember: most of the booklet will be done in class, although some of it may have to be completed at home.

The Chapter 4 TEST is tomorrow. Students received the study guide on Friday. The BONUS question is: “Who were the members of the Committee of Five?”

The students will take the ACT EXPLORE Test on Wednesday, October 21. All students need to bring THREE #2 pencils and a calculator for the test.

Study Guides for Chapter 4 TEST were distributed

Students need to bring the “stained” booklet for the Q2 Project on Monday. (This will count as a homework grade.) We will have an “in class” workday.

Chapter 4 TEST on Tuesday, October 20.

ALL 8th grade students will take the ACT EXPLORE TEST on Wednesday, October 21. They received a folder explaining this TEST. They will need to bring three (3) #2 pencils and a calculator for the TEST.

Students received the map “The Treaty of Paris of 1783″ and need to use p. 139 for help. EVERYTHING on the map on p. 139 needs to be on the student map. The key to the map should be put on the back. Also, students need to answer the map question and questions 1-3 under Section 4 Assessment on the back.This will be collected for a grade.

Students need to “stain” their booklets for the Q2 Project and bring them to class on Monday, Oct 19 (see 10/14 blog for additional instructions.)

Chapter 4 TEST will be given on Tuesday, October 20.

Students received a handout and verbal instructions for the QUARTER 2 PROJECT. This project will count as a TEST grade and is due on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Students received paper for the booklet and will need to “stain” it before Monday, October 19. We will work on the cover, table of contents, and page 1 in class on that day. Students MUST stain the booklet before beginning any of the drawing, writing, etc.

Students also read Ch 4 – Section 4 (pp. 134-139) They should have completed the notes in class today.

The Chapter 4 TEST will be on Tuesday, October 20. Students will be given the Study Guide on Friday, October 16.

Today in class we took our Quiz on Johnny Tremain – Chapters I and II.

Students received vocabulary for JT – Chapter III.

We reviewed for the Chapter 4 (Sections 1,2 ) Quiz from the textbook.  Students were assigned questions 5 and 6 on p. 141 for review tonight. The Quiz will be given in class tomorrow, but the grade will not be entered until the 2nd Quarter.

Today in class we checked our vocab and study questions for Ch I and II of Johnny Tremain.

Students were given Characterization and Vocabulary sheets to complete.

There will be a Quiz on CH I and II tomorrow.

Don’t forget: Quiz on Ch 4 (Sections 1,2) from the textbook on Friday. This will include Key Terms and People and study questions. We will review tomorrow.

Today in class we talked about the preservation of the Declaration of Independence.

Students received notes to complete using the DOI printed in their textbooks on pp. 122 – 125.

Today we read/listened to Chapter II of Johnny Tremain. We then completed the vocab and study questions for Ch II. There will be a quiz over Ch I and II on Thursday, October 8.

Tomorrow in class we will check Ch 4 – Section 2. Students should have completed the Key Terms and People on p. 118 and answer questions 1-3 on p. 121. There will be a quiz over Sections 1 and 2 on Friday, October 9.

Tomorrow is the LAST day for any make up work.
